Exodus 18:7-8 King James Version (KJV)
7 And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent.
8 And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the LORD delivered them.
Exodus 18:7-8 New Century Version (NCV)
7 So Moses went out to meet his father-in-law and bowed down and kissed him. After the two men asked about each other’s health, they went into Moses’ tent. 8 Moses told his father-in-law everything the LORD had done to the king and the Egyptians to help Israel. He told about all the problems they had faced along the way and how the LORD had saved them.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
7 So they met up again had small talk and then went in private to have more serious talk. His wife may have went back to her father because they were both original going to Egypt together or she may have chose to go back to her father.
8 Moses tells him of the glory of the Lord and how God saved His people, what a beautiful thing Moses shared, I can imagine him getting more and more excited as he shared. We as Christians also have a story we need to share.
