The majority of what is expected in the debate forum comes down to common decency and respect. I expect these rules to be followed, warnings will be issued for most offenses, and frequent problems will be met with suspension or banning of the member causing the problem.
1) No insulting, attacking, or degrading members on this forum. The temptation to do so is particularly strong when debating something as heated as religion, but we are all people, and even though we don't agree on the issues we need to be respectful of each other's rights to have their own opinions. In this subforum we attack ideas, not people.
2) No profanity or foul language. As with the rest of the forum, I don't want to see a lot of cursing, since many educated people don't want to hear/see it.
Violations of either of these rules will be edited, and the original post stored in the post graveyard. If somebody would like to see why a post of modified, I can unlock access temporarily, but generally it will be because it is something I don't want people to have to see.
3) Keep an open mind. The key to any debate is that everybody involved is willing to actually see both sides of the argument. There should be no true arguing (the difference being the lack of facts and/or support) and no repetition of the same point without reason.
4) Keep debates to this subforum. Pretty self-explanatory. The other areas of this forum are for learning, not debating.
5) All separate debate posts (such as refuting separate documents, videos, etc) should be posted as separate threads under this sub-forum.
Just remember to act like adults, and everything should be fine. Happy debating.
